Credit Card Processing for Tuition Fees – The office will be setting this up soon. Be prepared for details to
follow- if you are interested.

The 5-Star Quality Learning Certification program is in full swing. This is a certification offered by the Early
Learning Coalition. NDLC currently has this certification and must be re-certified every 2 years. The teachers
and classrooms are being audited by the city to determine what they need to pass the
voluntary quality
certification. We have an assessor visiting each class and identifying items that are needed or need to be
replaced. Parents are encouraged to review the list regularly to bring in gently used items they’d like to
donate to the school. This will help defray costs to replace items that are needed to pass inspection. An
example of items that are being reviewed: books – any book that has a ripped or taped page is not counted
as a usable book. There is a ratio of books to children to pass one part of the certification.
Do you have
baby books that you can donate to the school?

If you feel that you have the item the school is looking for, please let the office know that you will
supply it. Any extra items can will be used either in the school or passed on to other families.

If you are a ‘garage-saler’ – keep your eyes open for these items. If you are cleaning out your items and
find toys and books that your children have outgrown, please check the younger age range lists
to see if you have the needed items.

Minutes from January Meeting:
•        Treasury Report: We have $1540.54 in our account
•        We were able to fund the schools needs related to the recent 5-Star Qualification Certificate. The
amount was 1397.00. These were for items that were identified as required to achieve the voluntary quality 5-
star preschool certification. A list of all the purchased items is available in the office. The school spread the
purchases throughout all the classes. Each class should have a variety of new items. Thank you parents!!
You made this possible through your fundraising efforts. The teachers were thrilled with the new shelves they
received along with all the NEW age-appropriate toys for learning for each of our age groups/classes. How
exciting for our children to have new toys, books, and furniture.
•        Our recent Usbourne Book fair netted $250 in free books for our school!! Way to go!
•        The next Fun Night is February 11. Make plans to have an adult dinner or just go out and have quiet
time with your sweetie!! Sign-ups are happening now in the office.
•        December Fun Nights were a huge success.
•        Our next big fundraiser is coming up. March 5-16. We will be selling Ultimate Gourmet – cookie dough,
pretzels, cheese cakes, and other yummy goods. We are also selling Mixed Bags!! Catalogues for both
fundraisers will be distributed to the children’s folders about a week prior. Please plan on April 3rd as the
pick-up date for the perishable items. Make sure you can pick up your goods and keep them cold that
morning. NDLC does not have the room to store items if they are not picked up – meaning they will spoil!!
•        Mixed Bags is available to order on line for out of town family or friends who would like to purchase
them. It’s very easy to do! Keep in mind though, we only get 40% of Internet  sales as opposed to 50% if
ordering from the catalogue / face-to-face.
•        Teacher Appreciation ideas were discussed at our meeting. Please be on the look out for your
Homeroom Mom to email you the details. The PAB will also sponsor a catered lunch for our teachers on a
chosen day the week of Teacher Appreciation – May 7-11.
•        One more item: Tiffany Carnes is stepping down from the role of president next school year. If you are
interested please let Jennifer in the office know. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be more involved with your
child’s school. Have a say in what you think the higher priorities should be for the PAB. All tasks required
have been documented and Tiffany  is happy to help the incoming prez. Keep it in mind!
•        Our next meeting will be Tuesday, February 21th from 5:00-6:00 at NDLC.  Childcare is provided.

Thank you for all your efforts!
